The deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 4 for KSRO’s 23rd annual Good Food Hour Recipe Contest, “Bean Appetit.”
The contest is looking for a few good bean recipes, and in exchange, will offer an array of cookbooks, wine, cooking classes and gift certificates as prizes.

Finalists will be selected to appear on a live broadcast of “The Good Food Hour,” with co-hosts John Ash and Steve Garner, at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at G&G Market in Santa Rosa.
Meanwhile, bean aficionados take note: Steve Sando of Rancho Gordo will celebrate the Day of the Dead from 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 at Jimtown Store in Healdsburg.
There will be fresh tortillas, hot chocolate, churros, pan de muerto and a new crop of heirloom beans from Sando. Bring something for the Day of the Dead altar and be ready to decorate sugar skulls.
Tickets are $10 adults, $5 for kids. RSVP by Oct. 30 to 433-1212. The store is located at 6706 Highway 128 in Healdsburg.
